Winter Quilt with Tina Finbow – Starting on Sunday 28th July 2024

As Edyta Sitar has kindly given me permission to teach this quilt you will need the book Patches of Blue by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts to do this course. 

Over the 6 sessions you will make the blocks to create this Quilt Top – you will have some homework to get blocks finished off – this hinges on what you get completed in class.

Disappearing Nine Patch Cushion with Tina Finbow – Saturday 7th September 2024

This is an ideal workshop for Beginners.  You will make a Cushion Cover using the Disappearing Nine Patch technique, which has so many possibilities with layouts.  Once the front is made it will then be layered up on wadding and quilted, before making it into the cushion cover.  If you love the technique it also makes a great Table Runner if you make 3 sections to join together.  This will be discussed at the workshop.

You will need your Sewing Machine with a ¼” foot and a walking foot is ideal for machine quilting.

Folded Flying Geese with Tina Finbow – Sunday 15th September 2024

This is a Brand NEW workshop, where you will create a panel using the technique Folded Flying Geese, which you could make into a Cushion Cover, a Table Centre Piece or even add to it to make a Quilt top.  The Folded Flying Geese can also be folded back to create a curve, this is your choice on the day.  On the image the centre section is folded to create the curves.

You will layer the piece up onto wadding and calico and machine quilt.

Not suitable for Absolute Beginners to Patchwork.

You will need your sewing machine with a ¼” foot and your walking foot for quilting.

Beginners Westalee Rulers with Angela Attwood – Saturday 28th September 2024 (10am – 4pm)

We are thrilled to announce that Angela Attwood will be back teaching the Westalee Rulers workshops again.

This is a great opportunity to learn how to use the Westalee Rulers on this Beginners Workshop.

To do the workshop you will need the appropriate Ruler Foot for your sewing machine, you cannot use a traditional embroidery foot.  You will need the 12” arc ruler and the spacing gauge too.  These are available from The Cotton Patch or Angela Attwood.

Once enrolled the workshop fee is non-refundable unless we are able to sell your place.

Westalee Rulers Sampler Taster Day with Angela Attwood – Sunday 29th September 2024 (10am – 4pm)

This is a Brand New Workshop with Angela Attwood.

Westalee Sampler Set – Sampling Day.  The Westalee Sampler Set is one of Angie’s favourite and most used template collections. 6 super-versatile shapes that work fabulously together and individually as Angie has shown in a number of her quilting patterns. (Jewel Quilt, Fiesta, Ruler Roll and Petal Power) A natural next step from the beginners Starter Day, this workshop is designed to help you get the most from the Sampler Set (6 rulers). Angie will guide you through best practice for each of the rulers and share numerous design options to explore over time. You will also learn about marking out for accuracy and how to best manage a quilt on a domestic sewing machine. With hands-on guidance and encouragement your confidence and knowledge will grow quickly, enabling you to explore and stitch out your our own designs in no time. This course is designed to give you practical guidance and improved stitch technique rather than completing a finished item. This course is NOT suitable for absolute beginners of Westalee Ruler work. Basic machine set up will not be covered. You should be comfortable fitting the Ruler Foot to your machine and able to stitch a basic straight line and curve as a minimum requirement.

PLEASE NOTE: To attend this class you will need an appropriate Ruler Foot, Spacing Gauge, the Westalee Sampler Set and an extension table for your machine.

From previous feedback – students often find it is ideal to do both workshops on the same weekend, rather than have a few weeks gap.

Bargello with Tina Finbow – Saturday 12th October 2024

Bargello is such a fun Patchwork technique, with which you can create some intriguing designs.

On this workshop you will create a small panel, which can then be used for the front of a cushion, side to a bag etc.  But you will gain the understanding of how to do Bargello and you can then take that further and even create a quilt top.

You will need a ¼” foot for your sewing machine for this course.

Seminole Patchwork Cushion with Tina Finbow – Sunday 13th October 2024

Back by Popular Demand – following a very successful workshop, I have been asked a few times about running it again, so here is the new date.

You will make a selection of different Seminole Patchwork pieces and then assemble them into a front for a cushion.  It’s a great way of trying out several of the Seminole Patchwork techniques and using them, rather than putting them into your stash.

You will need your sewing machine with ¼” foot, a cutting mat, rotary cutter and ruler, preferably a ruler with a 45 degree line marked onto it.

It is one of my favourite styles of patchwork and gives great results.  I do have to say I work you hard on the workshop to get the most out of our day.

Beginners Quilt with Tina Finbow on Saturday 16th & Saturday 23rd November 2024 (10am – 4pm)

This course is based over 2 sessions (Saturday 16^th & Saturday 23^rd November 2024), and you will make a small lap quilt.  It is aimed at Beginners and you will learn how to accurately cut your fabric, piece the fabric with a ¼” seam, attach a border, layer up with wadding and a backing, machine quilt and then attach a continuous binding.

You will need your sewing machine with a ¼” foot and a walking foot, plus a rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat for this course. Plus your standard sewing kit.

These are the essentials of Patchwork and Quilting.
