A fun but very intriguing technique, with which you can create all sorts of designs.  During the day you will create a design onto fabric, which can then be used as a wall hanging, a side panel to a bag, or even make it into a zipped pouch, which is what I did with one my pieces.  The photo gives an example of 2 of my pieces of work and how different they look when rotated.

Not suitable for Beginners.

Here to Help! with Tina Finbow – Friday 25th October 2024

Here to Help! This is a new style of Sit & Sew Day with me in the background if you need a little help with your project.  This is mainly aimed at Patchwork and Quilting, or finishing off projects that you may have started on a workshop at the cabin.  It will not include Dressmaking, as this is not an area I cover.

It is help, not a full day’s teaching.  Often you know what you are doing, but need a little help and guidance with your project.

It will need to be booked in advance of the date.

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Zipped Pouch with Aitchbee – Saturday 26th October 2024

This was one of the most popular workshops last autumn, as they made ideal Christmas gifts, and so many were made by the group after the workshop.

In Aitchbee’s words:-

A fun little project for you to make for friends and family this Christmas – with integrated quilt and simple zip insertion – a choice of motifs and friendship braid which extends to the back of the pouch (simple FPP). Full instructions will be given for FPP so even if you have never tackled this useful and versatile technique before I will guide you through it. A full copy of the pattern, with lots of photographs and diagram, will be provided for each student at the end of the class so you can make lots more at home!

Beginners Quilt with Tina Finbow on Saturday 16th & Saturday 23rd November 2024 (10am – 4pm)

This course is based over 2 sessions (Saturday 16^th & Saturday 23^rd November 2024), and you will make a small lap quilt.  It is aimed at Beginners and you will learn how to accurately cut your fabric, piece the fabric with a ¼” seam, attach a border, layer up with wadding and a backing, machine quilt and then attach a continuous binding.

You will need your sewing machine with a ¼” foot and a walking foot, plus a rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat for this course. Plus your standard sewing kit.

These are the essentials of Patchwork and Quilting.

Flexi-Hexi’s with Aitchbee – Sunday 24th November 2024 (10am – 4pm)

This is a Brand New Workshop.

In Aitchbee’s word’s:

FLEXI-HEXI One shape so many options!First choose which Foundation Paper Pieced (FPP) design you want to make – STUNNING SNOWFLAKE or SIMPLE TRIANGLES. Then choose your colours and make your little quilted hexagons. Use these hexagons to make any one of seven different gifty projects: MUG RUG, PLACE MATS, TABLE RUNNER, FABRIC BOWL, ZIP POUCH, SEWING CASE or GIFT TOTE. Full instructions given for FPP as well as the seven project options, plus a detailed pattern with photographs and diagram will be provided for each student so they can make more when they get home!

So many options to choose from and they make great gifts too.
