Kawandi with Lynne Pretty
If you like hand sewing this is a lovely workshop, which we last held in February 2024.
In Lynn’s words:-
Kawandi means quilt in India. This technique was brought to India, possibly as long ago as 800 years, by East African settlers and enslaved Africans who were transported to India’s west coast in the 16th Century. Their descendants today are the marginalised Siddi people and they are mainly settled in Karnataka, on the west coast of India. Scraps of fabric, traditionally recycled saris, are hand quilted onto a background fabric. No piecing involved!!!
This is a lovely hand sewing workshop.
Workshop Fee – £48.00 (This does not include materials)
Limited to 8 people
Sunday 31st May 2026 – (10am – 4pm)

Monoprint Magic with Mary McIntosh
Following the success last year with this workshop Mary is offering another opportunity to try the technique out. I was lucky enough to be able to do the workshop last year and really enjoyed it.
Learn the skills of monoprinting and contemporary machine Pojagi style piecing to create a unique double sided semi-transparent panel which is ideal to hang in a window or against a pale wall. The size can be adapted to fit your space.
Morning – collecting leaves and monoprinting onto semi-transparent fabric. Colouring with paints and inks. Range of colourways.
Afternoon – using our printed fabrics to stitch using the contemporary Pojagi piecing method. All straight stitching.
Mary will provide the acrylic inks and the white and coloured cotton organdie fabric for £15 – there will be a list of things you need to bring on the day too.
Workshop Fee – £55 (This does not include materials)

Compass Rose with Tina Finbow
With Kind Permission from Lynne Edwards – I will be teaching her lovely design Compass Rose.
The piece is made using raw edge applique and I have used a machine blanket stitch to attach the pieces to the background. Most sewing machines have the blanket stitch pattern, but it would be a good idea to check your machine does, before the workshop.
This workshop is not suitable for beginners.

Fenchurch the Polar Bear with Aitchbee
This is a Brand NEW workshop with Aitchbee – the 3rd of her bears. In Helen’s words:-
FENCHURCH the POLAR BEAR: Meet FENCHURCH the sleepy polar bear who’s ready for bed in his rainbow-coloured quilt. He’s been wrapped up warm watching the Northern Lights dance in the sky above him but now it’s time for a snooze. This panel, created using my favourite method of Foundation Paper Piecing, would make a great wall hanging or pillow sham. Full instructions for FPP will be given during the class, but some experience of the technique would be an advantage. Each student will receive a full set of instructions, with colour photographs and diagrams, to complete the project at home. This is a machine sewing class. Finished size approx: 20 x 30 inches.

Zip It Quilt Top with Tina Finbow
This is a Brand NEW Quilt top workshop for the Zip It quilt which was designed by Emma Jean Jansen and she has kindly given me permission to teach this design. The pattern is required to do the workshop and this has been included in the workshop fee.
The pattern is created using a charm pack with an additional contrasting fabric. One charm pack would make a good size lap quilt with the addition of borders. If you want to make the quilt top bigger and not have borders, then you could use 2/3 or even 4 charm packs and then just add the binding once quilted.
It’s an enjoyable workshop but not suitable for absolute beginners.
Workshop Fee – £58 (does not include materials but does include the pattern)
Limited to 8 people
